The Simple Things - Visas

The world is full of difficult tasks. Remembering a good Jude Law performance or meeting an honest politician, for example. Rocket science, apparently, is hard; as is, according to chick lit, finding a good man in London or New York.

Fortunately, getting a visa in Egypt isn’t one of these things. Maybe not quite child’s play or, well, pie (why is pie considered easy anyway?), but quick and straightforward all the same.

There are three types of visa for Egypt: entry visa, transit visa and tourist visa. If you’re planning on buying an Egyptian property as buy-to-let or even as a holiday home, then the tourist visa is all you need, allowing either single or multiple entry for three months at a time. Better still, they usually only involve filling out one form which is handed in at the point of entry.

However, with the Egyptian government bending over backwards to promote the country to investors, you should qualify for much longer periods if you plan to live or retire to the area. As ever, seek advice from your country’s authorities, but problems should be few and far between.
