Almost all the island’s attractions are just as popular with older teenagers, parents, couples and groups but, for those seeking a more adult experience, then Cyprus offers wonderful nightlife; after long days on the beach or wondering around the historic sites, you’ll be more than ready to drink it all in.

Whether you like romantic meals and beachside strolls or high-octane all-night clubbing, there’s plenty to choose from. Nicosia has a truly cosmopolitan feel, much like a smaller version of the western capitals. The restaurants and bars vary from the traditional tabernas serving up Cypriot cuisine to hip and modern eateries with fusion flavours to a backdrop of funky furnishings and cool beats.
Holidaying families and couples might prefer the nightlife in Larnaca, which is closest in terms of appeal to the traditional Mediterranean resort. There are myriad beachside bars, clubs and discos, but also quieter cafes and wonderful restaurants – plenty to do and see but with a relaxed ambience.
However, if it’s real non-stop, hedonistic pleasure with other 24-hour party people that you’re after, then Ayia Napa is the undisputed king of the island. Like an Eastern Mediterranean version of Ibiza, with garage music instead of house filling most the dance floors, this once sleepy fishing town is now the destination of choice for clubbers who want sea, sand and sambucca during the day with more drinking and dancing all night.
If you crave the same charms but with the gauge turned down a notch or two, then try a few nights in Limassol, which has a similar appeal to Ayia Napa but is maybe a little more calm and refined.
